‘Last Orders’ is set in Liverpool just after World War I. It tells a tale of two brothers caught up in the Irish War of Independence and trapped by obligations to the past.

The story is not directly connected to my forthcoming novel, The Life and Death of Abercrombie Lyle, but it gives a glimpse of Abercrombie’s world, and the kind of people he mixed with, before his journey to Italy.
